Dear Church Leaders,

Is your church equipped to address the mental health needs of your congregation?  Do you have forums in which speakers come to discuss mental health topics with your parishioner’s?  As the world seeks to make the discussion around mental health less taboo, we as the Christian body must do so as well.

LifeWay Research reports 68% of pastors say their churches maintain a list of experts for referrals, but only 28% of families in need of mental health services are aware their churches have such a list. These are easily correctable situations.

My name is LaVante’ N. Dorsey, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of LaVante’ N Dorsey & Associates LLC, a therapeutic private practice located in Newark, Delaware.  I am also a member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church in Wilmington, Delaware.  I would like to offer my expert services to assist your church in:

The Church’s role is to relieve suffering, reveal Christ, and restore lives. We the body need to treat individuals with mental illness the same way we treat anyone with an illness. Offer a supportive care structure, help them spiritually, help them understand where God is in the situation, and help them connect more fully to God in their suffering
